Shopping List

A Holiday Filled with Joy...Day 15

Uncle Tom, Aunt Sue, Cousin Sally, Grandpa Joe...the lists go on! Sound familiar? Is your Christmas shopping overwhelming you? Are you done with your shopping? Is it all wrapped? Did you remember everyone? Whoa! Time out!

Christmas is the season of giving, but sometimes we get so overwhelmed with our list and the things we have to buy and the people we have to remember on our list, that we forget about the spirit of giving.

Our list doesn't have to include the latest and greatest...or the most expensive item...or that thing we settle for because we don't know what else to buy. What our list should include are things that come from the heart.

We need to give our gifts of love, compassion, caring, patience and even forgiveness. Some of the gifts we give can't be wrapped up neatly and put under the tree and opened on Christmas morning. They are gifts we give with our heart and share each day forward.

During this holiday, take a good look at your list. Make a special note to yourself about each person on it and think about what you can give that person in the coming year. What piece of yourself can you share and how can you bring more joy to that person's life.

That is the kind of shopping list that will produce the gifts that will keep giving.
