The Little Children Say It Best

A Holiday Filled with Joy...Day 11

“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

Things get complicated...things get busy...things get out of perspective. When you want to get back to reality and focus on what really matters...listen to a child.

There is nothing better that the annual Christmas program at church. The most adorable children standing in front of the congregation, bringing us back to the true meaning of Christmas. Through the eyes of a child we can focus on the joy of the season.

We have seen many Christmas programs at our church. Our children participated many of them. There was the year the our daughter was supposed to be singing in a trio...and she just moved her lips. There was the year that our son accidentally dropped the Baby Jesus a little to hard into the manager. Then there was the time a friend of the family couldn't keep his shepherd headpiece from falling over his eyes.

There have been so many great memories and proud moments watching our children in these programs. The greatest though, is the fact that our children are telling the Christmas story.

Today's program didn't disappoint. The children were adorable. The songs were perfect and the lines were all memorized. The children showed us all the "Reason for the Season." They reminded just how we get too busy and forget to remember what the season is truly about. They reminded us that we overwork ourselves a little too much and don't leave room in our hearts for joy.

It was a priceless message as it is every year. I felt such an overwhelming feeling of love and joy it cannot be explained.  The joy of the season is alive...if you have lost sight, sit down with a child for a while...I promise it will be rekindled.
