The Joy of the Lord is my Strength

New Bible Study...
Jan. 12, 2012

I am just beginning a new Bible Study, Beth Moore's study on the Book of Esther....I will highlight some of the best parts here!

My Journal...My Faith

I think back to when I was young and how blessed I was to have the role models of my grandparents.  Both sets of my grandparents were faithful Christians and helped me to grow in my faith.  I just recently saw my grandpa who is almost 90 years old.  In his office on his desk was a piece of paper he had been working on.  I asked him what he was writing.  Next to the paper was a large font Bible open to a chapter in Genesis.  He said he was copying scripture as he does everyday.  I asked him how many times he thought he had read through the Bible...he couldn't even estimate.  For his whole life he has read several chapters a day.  He said he learns something new each time through.

I spoke with my Nana Alice the other day on the phone, I had called her on my grandpa's birthday.  He passed away almost 30 years ago.  She always asks, "are you going to church?"  She knows what the basis of a great life foundation is...faith.  She has the comfort of knowing she will she my grandpa someday.

My parents took us to church every Sunday.  I became a Christian at 7 years old and was baptized at around 10 years old.  There was a time in my life I thought I could do it on my own.  It didn't take long to figure out I was wrong.  When we had our own children, it became very apparent I needed God to help me raise these beautiful gifts.  The day my husband and children were baptized together was one of the most special days in my life.

I continue to grow and never want to stop...my grandpa has shown me the value of that lesson...it is a continual journey based on the fact that I love Jesus Christ and accept him as my saviour...it's is through God's grace that I am saved...."the Joy of the Lord is my Strength"  everyday!
