Traditions to Share with Your Family

A Holiday Filled with Joy...Day 9

Cookies for Santa! That was always a must in our house. We would bake a lot of cookies and always pick the best ones to leave out for Santa. I could never figure out how Santa could eat so many cookies! No matter how full he was, he ate ours and only left a few crumbs!

This was one of the traditions that our family had when I was a child. Our children enjoyed the same tradition. There are so many traditions, especially when two families come together. It is a fun thing to find those special traditions that are meaningful to your family and your children.

Here are few ideas of fun and festive things to do with your family...

Have a baking day...Don't worry about the mess...just get in and bake and have fun. Let the kids do the decorating and get out the camera to capture the moment.

Cut your own Christmas tree...Pack a thermos of cocoa, some cookies and maybe a sled. Head to the mountains and pick out your tree. It is great fun to cut down your own tree and then spend time as a family decorating it.

Enjoy quiet time with your spouse...After the kids go to bed, turn on some Christmas music, warm up some hot cider and relax! Maybe even pick out a holiday classic movie.

Have a holiday movie marathon...We like to watch "A Christmas Story" each year. It never gets old!

Christmas Cards...Read a card each night and pray for the family in which it came. This tradition can continue into the new year.

These are a few ideas...remember the simplest things often the most joy!
