We moved cattle today and it was a sign of the times. We didn't load the horse trailer with horses, we loaded the flatbed trailer with ATV's. There were still a few horses though.
It seems this is becoming more common. It takes a lot less time to start up a 4-wheeler than it does to saddle a horse. The fact that our cows are well trained also helps. Once we head in the gates with multiple 4-Wheelers, they know it is time to move.
Horses are great for tight spots and the are great around the cattle. We just don't have as many horses anymore and find it so quick to hop on the 4-wheeler and go.
We were talking though, it is kind of sad to see that tradition go...We still have a horse trailer...but we also have the 21st Century version of one!
